What is brand messaging?
In a nutshell, brand messaging is what you say and how you say it.
A more nuanced description is that brand messaging comprises all the ways in which you communicate your value proposition to consumers.
Your messaging relates your brand’s values and purpose, as well as how your brand is different from your nearest competitors. Brand messaging educates and informs your audience across numerous platforms – from your website and on social media to your printed marketing materials to product packaging.
Along with visual representations, such as style and photography, brand messaging is a cornerstone in the building of trust, and an essential component in establishing the authenticity and authority needed to convert consumer interest into sales.
While there is no wrong time to assess your brand messaging, there are certain milestones which make the timing ripe for an investigation into the continued suitability of your messaging and/or tone of voice.
These milestones usually align with critical shifts within the business itself, or when external changes in the marketplace or audience have occurred.
